General Description:
The Media Intern provides support to the Media Services department in the setup, operation, and maintenance of audiovisual equipment across campus. This role offers hands-on experience assisting faculty, staff, and students with classroom and event technology, while gaining practical exposure to audiovisual systems, media production, and technical support in a higher education environment.
Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the delivery, setup, and breakdown of audiovisual equipment in classrooms and event spaces
Support faculty, staff, and students in the use of audiovisual and presentation equipment
Help maintain and update the daily media services schedule
Perform basic troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment and report technical issues
Assist in ensuring classroom and event equipment is in proper working condition
Support the setup and operation of public address systems, video presentations, and campus events
Help prepare and transfer media files from recording devices and storage systems
Provide support for media duplication and basic editing tasks as needed
Assist with front desk operations and customer service within Media Services
Maintain organization of equipment, storage areas, and inventory supplies
Assist in basic operation of studio equipment such as cameras and teleprompters when needed
Follow all safety procedures related to equipment handling and transport
Perform other duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in Media, Communications, Broadcasting, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience:
Basic familiarity with audiovisual equipment such as projectors, microphones, cameras, and sound systems
Experience with video recording or editing (academic or personal projects acceptable)
Prior customer service or technical support experience preferred
Interest in live event production or media services
Competencies and Skills Required:

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Some travel required.
