Position Summary
The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Buffalo is seeking an Instructional Support Technician.
As an Instructional Support Technician, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Set up and maintain biology instructional laboratories, including maintenance of laboratory equipment, implementation and oversight of computer-based labs, and growth and maintenance of laboratory organisms (plants, zebrafish, and other organisms as needed).
Conduct experiments under guidance of instructor(s) in charge of relevant courses. Assist instructor in preparation and/or revision of laboratory manuals and laboratory prep notes. Prepare educational exhibits and demonstrations as directed by instructor(s) in charge of relevant courses. Assist instructor in the training and evaluation of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants. Share, with other laboratory staff, responsibility for selection, supervision and evaluation of work study assistants. Incumbent will also maintain inventory and is responsible for the timely ordering of supplies for relevant instructional labs.
Ensure the safety, security and cleanliness of assigned instructional laboratories. Coordinate proper handling and disposal of hazardous laboratory chemicals.
The ability of the incumbent to cooperate and coordinate with other technical staff members is essential. It is expected that the incumbent will carry out his or her duties in a manner that has a positive effect on the overall instructional and service mission of the Department of Biological Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Biology, or related science with 2 years of experience in a research or instructional laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Biology, or related science, plus 3 or more years experience in laboratory research and/or instructional laboratory supervision.
Experience in growth and maintenance of laboratory organisms.
Demonstrable experience with web-based instructional tools.
Physical Demands
Ability to transport laboratory equipment and move with the assistance of a dolly or cart.
Salary Range $57,151
