THE POSITION: This position is a member of the Palm Springs International Airport and is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing buildings, facilities, electrical equipment and systems, programmable logic controllers and peripheral devices, navigational equipment, baggage handling systems, and passenger boarding bridges; and performing a variety of technical and maintenance tasks relative to other assigned areas of responsibility.
Experience:
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible industrial maintenance and repair experience including electrical and HVAC experience is required.
Two (2) years of experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers and associated components is required.
Specialized experience or training in conveyor system repair or a related field is preferred.
Industrial maintenance and repair experience in an Aviation environment is preferred.
Installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) experience which includes components such as I/O boards, photo-eyes, encoders, and communications modules is highly preferred.
Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience is preferred.
Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent education is required.
License or Certificates:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver License with a satisfactory driving record (a driving record may be deemed unsatisfactory for any of the following reasons: three (3) or more moving violations or reportable accident within the last three (3) years; conviction of driving under the influence within the last five (5) years) is required.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge, which is approved through the Federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is required.
Special Requirements:
Incumbent will be enrolled in the California Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Pull Notice Program. The DMV Pull Notice Program provides information on the incumbents driving record and driving record status on a periodic basis to the City.
Must be willing and able to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation and a physical and drug screen.
Palm Springs International Airport is owned by the City of Palm Springs and serves the Coachella Valley region which includes nine resort cities. PSP hosts thirteen airlines with non-stop flights to more than 20 destinations and which include major hubs offering travel possibilities to over 500 cities worldwide. The airport consists of 58 employees who oversee 70K annual aircraft operations and nearly 2.5 million passengers annually.
