This 4-H Program Associate position will lead, manage, and steward portions of the Anoka County 4-H program under the guidance of the 4-H Extension Educator and Program Leader. This position will primarily focus on outreach programming and work with community partners. In addition, this position will provide leadership to environmental natural resources and science of agriculture education. They will organize activities and deliver programs during out-of-school time. This position is supervised by the central region youth development program leader.
Job Duties include but are not limited to and change as determined by the supervisor.
Program Coordination - 60%
Ensure the summer and site-based programs are moving toward the statewide 4-H program outcomes.
Implement and evaluate programs, in conjunction with volunteers and staff, to advance the goals of the program in the county; under the oversight of the Extension Educator; under the oversight of the Extension Educator.
Use research-based curriculum to create and implement learning opportunities in a variety of settings.
Support the Environmental 4-H Club Model.
Serve as a key leader for the Environmental Fun Fair event.
Provide community service support for Anoka County 4-H clubs and project committees.
Develop Take and Teach Project Kits related to environmental and agricultural topics as needed.
4-H Program Operations - 25%
Monitor budget and accountability process for the summer and site-based programs
Ensure effective communication to families and stakeholders.
Promote and market the 4-H youth development program.
Follow and implement University of Minnesota, Extension, and Minnesota 4-H Youth Development policies and practices, including financial and risk management.
Volunteer Coordination - 15%
Build relationships with partners (youth, volunteers, interns, businesses, community-based organizations) to help advance 4-H program goals in Anoka County.
Recruit, place, train and coach volunteers in management and delivery roles which support the 4-H Youth Development Program
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of full-time experience in a direct youth development organization (as a member, volunteer, leader, paid staff member, or some combination) OR a combination or education and related experience to equal six (6) years.
Experience coordinating events and educational activities.
Experience working with clientele both face-to-face and on the phone.
Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, excel, etc), e-mail, and Internet browsers.
Proficient in oral and written English communication skills
The ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from various cultural, ethnic, and diverse backgrounds, including youth, parents, adult volunteers, and staff.
Demonstrated success working with diverse and historically marginalized audiences.
Additional Requirements:
Work within an office as well as in various educational settings in or near Anoka County.
Valid driver's license and own means of transportation with required liability insurance. Must be able to travel several times per week and regionally/statewide multiple times per year; this may include the St. Paul campus. Reimbursement for travel and subsistence is available in accordance with University policy.
Must be able to travel within the designated communities and provide or assist in providing in-person programming and other duties.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including occasional evening or weekend work.
Ability to bend, reach, twist, and lift or carry 10 pounds frequently and 30 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to stand for 90 minutes at a time or sit for 90 minutes at a time. Some days will require hours of standing or sitting.
When not in the assigned office location, employees must be reachable with a mobile number at the employee's own expense.

Preferred qualifications:
Degree and/or experience in education, sociology, youth development, or related field.
Program development, teaching and evaluation skills.
Experience working with volunteers.
Experience working with grants or grant funded programs.
Basic understanding of youth development principles.
