The Bus Driver is responsible for the operations of varies types of buses that will transport students and other passengers to and from designated locations. Drivers typically work without direct supervision and are fully responsible for the safety of their passengers. Demonstrate IWCC?s core mission, vision and values Transport students and other passengers to and from designated destinations, overnights and weekends, adjust and plan travel routes if necessary Make routine checks and inspection of bus and equipment for proper operation, safety, and maintenance Observe and follow all applicable federal, state, local laws, and regulations governing commercial transportation Follow school district guidelines regarding student management and discipline; report incidents to proper personnel Maintain required records of bus usage and reports of operation Drive commercial transportation vehicles with airbrakes Perform minor maintenance and safety checks of commercial vehicles Evacuate students during an emergency Other duties as assigned
The environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions Operation of Class B motor vehicle requiring frequent upper body movement; repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to include grasping both firm and light; primarily right side to operate door opener Seeing to drive and to observe work performed Hearing and speaking to communicate with students, parents, and other staff Frequent reaching to clean windshields, adjust mirrors, and open/close windows Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, carrying, pulling, pushing, climbing (bus steps) and extensive sitting The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate bus equipment and use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with internal and external customers, listen to and respond accurate information and directions. (hear), and observe, assess, identify, detect Ability to drive company owned or personal vehicle and operate lifts and machinery. Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina Exposure to driving an IWCC bus during adverse weather and traffic conditions, extreme temperatures, vehicle exhaust, odors, poor ventilation, and intense noise Exposure to working around and with machinery having moving parts Work environment involves limited exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises Work is frequently done in outdoor weather conditions; rain, snow, sun, wind and other forms of weather Ability to pass a background check
