Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Police the Lieutenant leads the patrol operations function Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD). The Lieutenant supervises the staff of Patrol Operations, to include Sergeants, Police Officers, CSO's, and other personnel assigned to the Patrol Division.

Responsibilities: 1. Provide and implement a vision and model for effective safety and security for the University Community, as well as outreach aimed at enhancing both the level of preparedness and the level of connectivity of the NU community. 2. Develop innovative and highly effectual, preventative patrol operations to counter criminal behavior and enhance engagement with the Community. 3. Supervise, prepare and enhance the level of effectiveness of University Police Sergeants. 4. Work effectively with university partners to address personal safety, infrastructure security and enhance the efficacy of the University Police Departments role on campus. 5. Embrace our values-based police philosophy, while working with other lieutenants and division partners to enhance and evolve the effectiveness of the police and security enterprise. 6. Working effectively with Emergency Management, Global Site Security and the Office of International Safety to design and provide services to the entire NU Global Network.
Qualifications: 1. Must retain a current Driver's License, an LTC, and retain police powers under M.G.L. ch.22 63 and POST Certification. Bachelor's degree preferred. 2. Must have held a supervisory role in a police department for a minimum of 5 years. Holding the position of Lieutenant or higher for a minimum of 5 years preferred.

Selection Process: This position requires an interview process, criminal background check, as well as a drug screening, medical exam and psychological exam. Once initiated, the selection process takes approximately 3 months.
