The Rollins College Facilities Services department is seeking service-oriented temporary employees to join their team. We are currently hiring for two positions:
Groundskeeper
Operate mowers and equipment in performing routine duties.
Perform routine sprinkler maintenance and preventive maintenance.
Perform maintenance and caretaker work in mowing grass, cleaning grounds, emptying trash, edging, weeding, and maintaining flower beds and shrubs.
Assist in the application of fertilizers.
Plant and transplant landscape materials.
Project Custodian
Assist with transporting and moving supplies, equipment, and furniture.
Assist other Facilities Management personnel in the performance of routine and emergency tasks.
Set-up and break-down special events (clean trash containers and rearrange furniture, etc.).
Complete assigned work orders and event requests.
Relieve other coworkers in the custodial department.
Minimum Qualifications & Education:
High school education.
Possess a valid driver's license, or ability to obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days of accepting the job, and an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
Ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions in English.
Ability to read and understand label instructions on chemicals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Six months of experience in facilities services or job-related work.
Bi-lingual (Spanish).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of practices and procedures used in maintenance.
Knowledge of small tools and equipment used.
Perform all job responsibilities safely using facilities equipment.
Demonstrates ability to work professionally with staff, faculty, students, and external constituents at all levels.
Exhibits sound judgment and the ability to make reasonable decisions in the absence of direction.
Demonstrates proficiency to quickly adapt to workplace changes and learn new skills.
Comply with all department policies, procedures, and service delivery expectations.
Work Schedule:
The Facilities Services Temporary employees work less than 1,000 hours per year.
Work hours are Monday to Friday between the core hours of 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
Work Environment:
Works on-campus at multiple work sites including indoors and outdoors.
Work requires physical exertion and exposure to both hot and cold weather.
Physical role requiring heavy lifting/carrying (objects & equipment), pushing, pulling, bending twisting, and kneeling. Prolonged standing and walking to various areas around campus to access work areas.
Must be punctual and reliable; daily attendance is required.
