SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Building Services and the supervisory team, the Building Superintendent will perform a variety of duties to assist in the maintenance and repair of the academic & dormitory buildings. The ideal candidate must be able to work on their own and alongside superintendents, part- time and contracted personnel to service and clean laundry rooms, recreation rooms, offices, classrooms, and common areas by:
Vacuuming and dusting.
Washing walls, furniture, glass, or partitions.
Replacing light bulbs.
Emptying recycling bins and trash.
Servicing restrooms by filling soap, paper towel, toilet paper, sanitary napkin dispensers.
Mopping up water, leaks, and spills
Unplugging sinks and unclogging toilets.
Opening and closing buildings and keeping the entryways accessible.
Sweeping debris off stairs and sidewalks on front of the buildings as well as shoveling snow and putting down ice
melt.
Putting away delivered stock items such as cases of toilet paper, paper towels, and soap in the stockroom.
Assisting others in settling up staging, tables and chairs for University functions.
Moving and setting up furniture.
Performing other related duties as required or directed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a valid driver's license for the state of residence and DOT certificate.
Must be able to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors/directors and all levels of the organization.
Must be able to perform manual labor, including frequent lifting/carrying/transporting loads up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work alone and climb multiple sets of stairs, work off of ladders, staging, etc.
Must be able to respond to overtime needs beyond the normal workday.
Mandatory overtime, inclusive of weekends, as required or requested by Director of Building Services.
Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
Must have the ability to follow directions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ninety days after employment, employees are required to become a member of the Union Local 32BJ, District 615.
Position requires a criminal background check.
Permanent membership on the Snow Team is a requirement of this position.
40-hour work week - Schedule is Tuesday through Friday 12PM - 8:30PM & Saturday 6AM - 2:30PM
