Position Information: Under general supervision, provide skills necessary to support the department of Agricultural Operations research station. Cultural practices of row crops, includes mixing and applying sprays of herbicides, insecticides and fungicides for control of pests using various spray equipment. Open field management and making equipment adjustments as necessary. Reads, and understands the various pesticide labels for pesticides used in the control of pests with special attention on the proper use of protective clothing and equipment required in the application of these materials. Keeps accurate records of materials applied for required monthly reports and field.
The full salary range for the Senior Agricultural Technician is $21.52 to $29.58 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $21.52 to $23.29 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Experience Requirements
Minimum of 3 Years of agricultural experience with a demonstrated ability to operate light to medium and/or non-complex agricultural equipment; tractors with attached or towed equipment and specialized equipment, self-propelled spray rigs, planters, bed shapers, cultivators, chemical incorporators, harvesters, mowers, and trenchers, and the experience and knowledge to successfully perform the duties assigned to the position.. Required
Demonstrated experience and ability to operate and conduct routine maintenance on pesticide application equipment. Required
Demonstrated experience in operating tractors with attached or towed equipment and specialized equipment, self-propelled spray rigs, planters, bed shapers, cultivators, chemical incorporators, harvesters and combines. Required
Demonstrated experience in communicating with researchers and understanding basic research objectives when performing plot work. Preferred
Experience in preparing small scale (<1/8 acre) for research and applying pesticides to small scale research trials. Preferred
Ability to obtain a Qualified Applicator Certificate within 6 months of employment. Required
Forklift certificate proven ability to successfully operate a forklift. Preferred

Minimum Requirements
Ability to read, write and speak English; perform basic arithmetic calculations.
Knowledge of pesticide application and safety procedures. Under supervision prepares and applies various chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, soil fumigants and fertilizers.
Knowledge in safety operations and regulations.
Ability to operate, calibrate and understand functioning of various types of sprayers and farm machinery.
Ability to pass a respirator fit test and ability to wear and use air purifying respirator during chemical applications when required by law.
Ability to manage date palms, de-thorn, prune, pollinate, and bag. Remove offshoots for transplanting.
Ability to maintain operational records such as records for cultural care operations and materials applied to plots.
Ability to operate light to medium and/or non-complex agriculture equipment; tractors, trucks, loaders, backhoe, mini excavators, trenchers, portable water pumps, cement mixers, pipe trailers, sprayes and other equipment.
Ability and experience to work in an outdoor environment during inclement weather and temperature extremes, daily moving of material weighing up to 40 lbs.
Demonstrated ability to organize daily work loads and communicating with staff and understanding basic field objectives when performing work.
Knowledge and skill in the use of hand and power tools used in the normal agricultural setting.
Knowledge and experence in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including email.
