Summary of Position:
Classroom and small group instruction for proper laboratory procedures with the Institute for Construction Education and Training (ICET). Monitor written and practical certification examinations. These positions are limited to no more 28 hours per week. This is a pooled position and our anticipated start date is Fall 2024 (preferably August) and/or Spring (preferably January) 2025. One or more applicants may be hired as needed on a semester-by-semester basis.

Two years experience working in the road construction industry related to quality control of highway construction materials.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Current certifications as appropriate to program assignment such as Michigan Certified Aggregate Technician, Michigan Certified Bituminous Laboratory Technician, Level 1 and/or Michigan Certified Density Technician.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Available to travel and work at varied days and times. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Successfully interact with visitors, faculty, staff and students. Classroom and small group instruction for proper laboratory procedures. Monitor written and practical certification examinations. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of the Michigan Department of Transportation laboratory and testing procedures, the American Society for Testing and Materials Standards, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Standards as they apply to the road construction industry. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
