Responsible for installing, modifying, and making minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical assistance and training to system users.
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.
Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installs or assists service personnel in the installation/repair of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, docking stations, etc.
Loads specified software packages such as operating systems and other designated applications into computer.
Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
Instructs users in the use of computer equipment and software.
Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups.
Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, helpdesk ticketing system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
Refers major hardware problems to service personnel or vendor warranty support when applicable
Setting up or breaking down computer systems
Transporting equipment throughout campus using flatbed carts
Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent training/certifications.
One to two years of related experience and/or training
Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:
Ability to troubleshoot unique and complex technical issues relating to desktop hardware and software systems.
Understands the importance of adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assists in maintaining the OIT department SOP documents.
Ability to effectively problem-solve both technical issues and user error. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Experience with PowerShell scripting language preferred
Must be proficient with Windows 10/11 and the Microsoft Office Suite • Knowledge of Mac OS and administration
Must regularly lift and carry small packages of up to 10 pounds. May occasionally lift and carry boxes of supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and carry to other locations within the office. This position also involves moving equipment across campus on flatbed carts.
