Florida Gulf Coast University is looking for our first Waterfront & Adventures Coordinator. Besides having the best office view on campus, this person would be responsible for the day to day operations of the the Waterfront facility which is located on the freshwater lake on campus as well as overseeing our RecVentures program. This program looks to offer different experiences that allow our students to take advantage of the Southwest Florida area. This ranges from day trips such as snorkeling or skydiving, to skill clinics on our non motorized boats, and overseeing our equipment check out of various camping gear, the fleet of bikes for our Pedal Power program and the non motorized boats at the waterfront. Within the day to day operations at the Waterfront this person will be leading the motorized boat program that utilizes the lake and our HeyDay boat to provide opportunities for students to take part in a multitude of water sports. They will be an important member of our Aquatics team which consists of the Aquatics Coordinator and Assistant Director of Aquatics.
Job Summary
The Coordinator II, Waterfront & Adventures coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Waterfront facility and the RecVentures program, including but not limited to adventure trips, equipment rentals, educational skill clinics, and courses. This role coordinates watersport activities on campus, including skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, and others. This position is an integral member of the Aquatics professional staff team and coordinates programs, risk management and large staff trainings and inservices.

Job Description
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
Coordinates the daily operations of University Recreation and Wellness Waterfront including but not limited to non-motorized boat check out, motorized boat operations, equipment check out, and customer service.
Provides onsite management of events, programs, meetings, and activities and special events within the area of aquatics which could include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Plans and coordinates RecVenture programs including but not limited to skills clinics, day trips, and Pedal Power bike share program.
Provides oversight of the motorized boat program. Responsible for boat maintenance, risk management, operations and safety training for staff, and watersport equipment maintenance.
Oversees facility equipment inventory, including researching, suggesting purchases and making repairs for equipment including but not limited to kayaks, sailboats, motorized watersports, RecVenture equipment, bikes, risk management, and general facility.
Collects and analyzes data to assess and evaluate facility usage, programs, and initiatives.
Assists in establishing and implementing procedures within area of assigned responsibility, such as, risk management, facility usage, and patron usage.
Assists in hiring, supervising, evaluating, and training all student staff members that support operations. Delegates and assigns work, evaluates job performance, provides inservice training and assists with developing large staff trainings.
Collects and analyzes data to assess and evaluate facility usage, programs, and initiatives.
Aids in oversight of financial management of Facility Operations budgets. Monitors budgets and expenditures within assigned program area. Researches purchase options, reconciles purchasing card expenditures, and prepares budget requests
Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.
Assists with various special event programs for department
Assists with the development, implementation, evaluation, and compliance of risk management procedures.
Other Duties:
Serves on assigned University Recreation & Wellness and University work teams or committees as needed.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Recreation, Sports Administration, Hospitality Management, or closely related field.
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within three months of employment.
Boating Safety Education or Certification with ability to obtain a Florida Boater’s Safety Education within three months of employment.
Valid driver’s license.
Two full-time years of professional experience related to the position.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Experience and proficiency in watercraft operations (both motorized and non-motorized) with expert knowledge of transport and trailering of this equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Recreation, Sports Administration, Hospitality Management, Education or closely related discipline.
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification or ability to receive within six months of employment.
Experience scheduling, and supervising the work of student employees.
Experience and proficiency with recreation management software, such as Innosoft Fusion, CSI, similar.
Experience and proficiency with trip and adventure planning and execution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of aquatics and recreation programming.
Knowledge of and experience with records management.
Knowledge of budget control principles, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of or ability to learn Innosoft Fusion software.
Knowledge of or ability to learn motorized boat safety operations and waterfront recreational activities with the intent to train staff on such skills.
Knowledge of risk management standards and practices.
Knowledge of student intellectual, emotional and social development theory, techniques and research.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects.
Demonstrated skill in event management and program planning.
