The Director of Marketing leads, directs and coordinates the activities of the Marketing Department and is responsible for management of marketing, advertising, community and government relations, customer service and ADA certification to retain existing riders while increasing ridership and maintaining a positive image for RTA.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B. A./B.S.) from four-year college or university in marketing or public relations required. Master Degree in related field preferred. Five to seven years related experience in marketing and producing marketing materials for transit or other government agencies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively speak before and present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
COMPUTER SKILLS Knowledge of basic office equipment and personal computers. Must be familiar with software programs such as Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, Access, Power Point etc.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing. Knowledge and ability to layout and paste-up artwork and flyers. Knowledge of basic photography and the ability to write clear and concise programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and to effectively deal with the public. The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) was established as a Joint Powers Agency on August 15, 1975 and began operating bus service on March 16, 1977. RTA is the Consolidated Transportation Service Agency for western Riverside County and is responsible for coordinating transit services throughout the approximate 2,500 square mile service area, providing driver training, assistance with grant applications and development of Short Range Transit Plans (SRTPs).
RTA provides both local and regional services throughout the region with 32 local routes, three CommuterLink express routes, on-demand GoMicro microtransit service and Dial-A-Ride services using 277 vehicles. In the cities of Corona, Beaumont and Banning, RTA coordinates regional services with municipal transit systems. In Riverside, RTA coordinates with the city's Riverside Special Services, which provides ADA complementary service to RTA's fixed-route services.
