Food Service Sanitation Laborer University Housing - Dining Services
Job Summary Perform cleaning and sanitation duties in University Housing's food service units. Duties & Responsibilities
Operates kitchen dish washer machines as well as hand washes pots, pans, dishes, and silverware; responsible for the storage of cleaned pots and pans.
Scrapes and cleans tableware.
Maintains work areas in accordance with federal, state, and regulatory agencies' food safety standards.
Cleans and polishes silver.
Maintains equipment and materials needed in the dish room; reports equipment failures to the designated supervisor.
Deep cleaning including scouring of counters, cabinets, tables, kitchen equipment, and fixtures in a food service unit.
Disposing of trash and recyclables in the appropriately marked bins and cleans all dining garbage cans.
Transports dishes, utensils, equipment, supplies to and from proper storage areas; sets up tables, counters, and trays for service; clears tables and transports soiled dishes to kitchen.
Will assist unit managers in the arraignment of dining area/food service equipment.
Assists in production, transporting and serving of food, as necessary.
Sweeps and dusts food service unit; washes, mops, and scrubs floors and washes walls (as required) in kitchen and serving areas.
Responsible for maintaining supplies of including cleaning chemicals for both until floor and dish washing.
Assists in reconciling incoming food orders and deliveries.
Assists in counting, weighing, and marking prices and dates merchandise in the Dining-Retail operations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of use and operation of cleaning solutions and equipment.
Basic knowledge of food sanitation methods.
Ability to move heavy objects.
Ability and willingness to follow instructions.
Basic mechanical ability.
Ability to work in an environment with diverse staff and students.
Basic math and reading skills.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 0024 - Food Service Sanitation Laborer position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible. The salary for this position starts at $16.72 an hour.
