Wittenberg University's Business Office is currently seeking a highly motivated business professional to join our team. The Mailroom & Receiving Assistant will be responsible for processing incoming and outgoing mail, including delivering packages, mail, and other items as needed.
This position will report to the Mailroom Coordinator. This is an entry-level, part-time, non-exempt position, working no more than 29 hours per week.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Maintains efficient mailroom operations for the campus and the student mailrooms.
Provides assistance with copy and printing services, when/if needed.
Processes incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and other items.
Responds to questions and issues presented by students regarding mail issues/operations.
Stays current on postal regulations and maintain accounts at the post office.
Prioritizes mailings and sort/distribute mail to campus departments.
Maintains departmental reports pertaining to copy/print jobs and mailroom usage.
Assists with the coordination and communication to departments regarding mailroom changes.
Assists customers with outgoing mail and packaging processes.
Assists with mail pickup from post office, per day, in coordination with other mailroom employees.
Assists in loading/unloading supplies/packages related to departmental needs for mailroom purposes.
Provides/Coordinates pickup and delivery services and acts as liaison with common carriers and campus departments, including warehouse operations.
Maintains accurate records of work performed and materials used for copy/printer services and mailroom operations.
Provides backup in the absence of other mailroom and copy/printing services personnel, plus backup to warehouse operations.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.
Previous experience with processing mail and packages preferred. Ability to be trained and certified to drive a forklift and/or other similar equipment preferred.
Working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office software, specifically proficient in the use of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability and desire to learn additional software applications as necessary.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruption.
Demonstration of the ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively.
Enthusiastic and positive attitude is necessary for a productive and efficient work environment.
Physical demands include: Ability to remain stationary for majority of workday; ability to move equipment and packages weighing up to 40 lbs (with assistance) on a regular basis; ability to position oneself for transportation of equipment and packages within and between vehicles and campus departments; ability to traverse campus buildings and terrain; ability to work in a typical warehouse and office environment; ability to work in various climates and weather elements.
A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date.
