National Minimum Wage (for those of at least school leaving age) or National Living Wage (for those aged 23 and over):
- Apprentices, aged 16-18 years old or in the 1st Year of their apprenticeship are legally entitled to £5.28 per hour + £2.00 per hour Automated Spaces’ Top Up i.e., £7.28 per hour
- Aged 18-20 years old: £7.79 per hour
- Aged 21-22 years old: £10.18 per hour
- Aged 23-years old and over: £10.42 per hour
Job Description
Invariably you will be at the centre of our Client Smart Home and Home Cinema projects. You will be part of the installation team responsible for transforming spaces in people’s homes into amazing smart home/home cinema experiences for our Clients.
You may be working at one of our offsite locations or at a Client site, where you may need to directly interact in a profession manner with other trades and as well as the Client or their representatives.
Your days will be varied, exciting and sometimes challenging…. we doubt you will ever be bored.
Successful completion of the SHT apprenticeship could lead to a fulltime role within Automated Spaces.
Roles & Responsibilities
You will play a key role within our installation teams, you will always be expected to be professional and courteous whilst delivering rigorously high standards for our Clients.
As part of your apprenticeship training you will learn how to install, configure, calibrate, and troubleshoot a range of electrically connected Digital Home Technologies or Separated Extra-Low Voltage (SELV) devices. You will be given a good working knowledge of common hardware, software, IP networking, audio & visual distribution, and RF systems and user interfaces. Additionally, you will have appropriate personal skills to deal with homeowners and colleagues in associated construction trades, such as electricians, IT professionals, Security, Access Control, Fire and Intruder Alarm companies, Lighting designers and Installers, professional light and sound suppliers.
You will need to be meticulously accurate with your documentation including your time sheets.
Your role will include, but not limited to completing yourself or shadowing another team member who is completing, the following types of activities:
1st Fix Activities:
Reviewing & following installation, project as well as architectural documents
Installation of pre-wire cables around Client’s properties as they are being built
Cable termination: CAT6A Data Cables, etc.
Testing of cables
2nd Fix Activities:
Server/computer rack building & wiring
3rd Fix Activities:
Installation of various smart home & home cinema equipment:
Conduct client familiarisation training of installed systems

Ability to occasionally work while staying away from home overnight, in paid for accommodation, during the working week is preferable but certainly not mandatory
Qualifications
Full clean UK driving license with access to reliable transport is preferable but certainly not mandatory
Documentation to confirm you have right to work in UK
DBS certificate will be required to be submitted in the event of the individual being offered the position
Physical Requirements
Ability to move equipment weighing up to maximum of 22KG
Ability to position self to install equipment under desks or up ladders/working at height platforms
