The Role: As a Ratings Analyst, you will be participating in the evaluation of the credit quality for organizations in the U.S. Public Finance sector, which can include ratings for states, municipalities, school districts, charter schools, colleges, hospitals, housing agencies, public power and municipal cooperatives, transportation entities or utility providers. As part of your role, you will be responsible for aggregating data and information to present to rating committees, while also supporting research for publications or special projects. As you develop an understanding of the relevant ratings criteria and analysis, you will also interact with clients, make presentations, and prepare reports for internal and external distribution.

Responsibilities: This position is key to maintaining our market relevance and meeting our transaction requirements.
Specifically, in this role, the analyst will:
Conduct research and prepare documents and presentations for rating committees
Attend rating committee meetings with senior analysts as assigned
Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and financial statement analysis
Manage and process large data sets to assist in the collection and analysis of data for debt rating activities, thought leadership, and special projects; and
Participate in meetings with debt issuers and their representatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
1-2 years of work experience
A demonstrated interest in the municipal sector.
Strong work ethic and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Strong ability to work with financial models and data, including cash flow and credit models.
Strong verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to interact confidently with clients.
Strong proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of programming languages and data analytics a plus.
Ability to learn in both formal training and on-the-job settings.
Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment; and
Ability to be highly organized, detail-oriented, and juggle multiple priorities at once.
BS, BA in finance, accounting, economics, government/public policy, or a similar field required.

Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US candidates): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $46,200, to $80,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
