The SIMA Staff Coach will work alongside SIMA staff coaches and the SIMA Methodology Coordinator to ensure that the day-to-day operations of the SIMA program are implemented according to the agreed upon strategy while continuing to support the overall mission of Montverde Academy. The primary role is to plan and lead team sessions for the student-athletes within the SIMA program. The goal is to become a valuable resource for the students, parents and staff of the SIMA program as they will consistently interact with all three groups in this role. The aim is for the Staff Coach to offer the necessary support to each participant to help them succeed and ultimately realize their potential.
Responsibilities:
Adhere to the expectations of the SIMA.
Effectively prepare training sessions.
Adhere to the established weekly structure.
Monitors all communication via the SIMA Calendar, Microsoft Teams, e-mail, Skedda, etc.
Take attendance at the beginning of the SIMA training time.
Ensure students are following the rules and expectations of MVA and the SIMA program.
Effectively address infractions of the school/program code of conduct.
Develop a relationship as a mentor with the students.
Assist with transportation needs of the Academy (away matches, airport runs, etc.).
Ensure uniforms and equipment are well kept and accounted for.
Communicate issues/concerns with appropriate staff.
Conduct player evaluations.
Arrange parent meetings when appropriate.
Adhere to training and game day responsibilities.
Perform weekly duty rotation.
Track absences and trainer/doctor appointments.
Communicate time off with appropriate staff in advance (when possible).
Return goals and equipment at the end of each training/games.
College Placement.
Organize CP programming/presentations for the academic year.
Maintain, foster & develop relationships with college programs/coaching staffs.
Maintain regular correspondence with the MVA College Guidance office
Qualification and Skills:
Bachelor's degree
At least 2 years of coaching experience and working with children
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the Academy’s facilities.
