Solebury School seeks a qualified, experienced Physics Teacher to begin in the 2023-2024 academic year. An intentionally small, all-gender, independent day and boarding school for students in grades 9-12, Solebury is nestled on a rolling 140-acre campus in the Pennsylvania countryside. Essential Functions
Teach up to four total high-school Physics classes (from general level to Advanced Placement) in 80 minute blocks meeting 2-3 times each per week, incorporating labs and activities within each of the courses
Foster a strong working relationship with students, colleagues, and families
Lead an after school activity (such as newspaper) from 3:45-5:15pm three days per week for two out of the three trimesters
Participate in assigned weekend duties as part of the boarding program, with number of weekends based on housing
Serve as an advisor of up to eight students
Engage in continuing professional development

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, or related field
Demonstrated experience teaching high school students
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in Physics, Education, or related field
Boarding and/or independent school experience
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Physical: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, reach for or otherwise move objects, including textbooks and other teaching materials. Sedentary work involves sitting, standing and walking around the classroom.
Communication: Activities include both hearing and talking to express or exchange ideas and information.
Environmental conditions: Activities occur mostly inside and occasionally outside.
Valid driver’s license required as well as ability to pass a variety of background checks
