Reporting to Senior Vice President of Global Network and Strategic Initiatives, The Director of Strategic Initiatives provides strategic guidance and tactical support for the process of integrating new campuses into the Northeastern Global Network. Driving Northeastern's network expansion plan and strategic priorities, the Director needs to be able to coordinate with the various units of the University working on integration, know which decisions / facts they can act on and which need to be elevated to senior leadership for decision or awareness, and be able to maintain utmost discretion regarding their activities. Will serve as one of NU's primary liaisons with internal and external stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree required in business administration, marketing, communications, or closely related field; Master's degree preferred. Eight-to-ten years of experience in program development, preferably in higher education, or a complex and fast-moving corporate environment. Highest-level writing, design, and communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to consolidate complex, multifaceted ideas into marketable identities, programs, and initiatives. Four-to six years of experience in integrating new campuses and programs into the Northeastern Global Network. Four-to-six years of experience writing in a professional environment, preferably in the higher education field. Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work with distributed stakeholders to drive a single strategy. Proven success in using design thinking, analytical judgment, and problem-solving skills to determine needs and arrive at consistently sound, yet creative conclusions.
Ability to independently execute multi-step tasks to timely completion. Knowledge of, and comfort with, program management techniques.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
30% Represent GNSI Senior Leadership on Teams created to execute the incorporation of campuses into the Northeastern Global Network. Know what issues need to be elevated and which can be handled at a lower level. Exercise independent decision making when appropriate.
30% Oversee coordination and execution of project workstreams. Lead issue-level inter-department working groups to address specific aspects of campus integration. Be able to work across the University to achieve results in the workstreams. Ensure project staff meet productivity targets and achieve project deadline.
10% Be able to prepare briefings for GNSI and University Senior Leadership. Ability to distill complex information and scenarios into concise materials complete enough to allow for thoughtful decision-making.
10% Coordinate with third party consultants and external counsel to ensure proper flow of information. Be comfortable representing the University's positions and holding consultants accountable for results.
10% Develop project budgets, and ensure resources are allocated to achieve campus integrations within budget funds.
10% Post campus opening, remain involved in campus operations to troubleshoot emerging issues, and help incorporate lessons learned from campus integration into GNSI's growing body of knowledge.
