About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Global Campus Strategy, Recruitment and Marketing, the newly created Director of Strategic Partnerships will be responsible for building and optimizing corporate and academic relationships with institutional partners. They will set the strategic direction of institutional partnerships, ensuring a unified methodology to all external engagement by leveraging best practices and identifying new areas for collaboration. This position will also be responsible for leading the contract approach for all institutional partnerships, including negotiating and moving MOUs to formal partnerships.
In collaboration with Institute leadership, the Director will identify and incorporate into strategic planning a range of key factors such as growth drivers, regional market demands and trends, macro trends in business and education, evolving customer dynamics, competitive environment, and technology trends. The Director will also monitor, track, interpret, document, and share industry, competitive, and innovation trends, working with leadership to synthesize opportunities into compelling strategies. The Director will employ techniques such as scenario planning, analysis, and future-back dreaming to promote better decision-making under ambiguity. The Director will establish key partnerships to underpin each strategic initiative.
The successful candidate will be able to take a vision and create initiatives and infrastructure for outstanding execution. The Director must be self-directed with exemplary interpersonal communication skills. The Director is responsible for building and maintaining a robust set of relationships across various stakeholder constituencies, to support the goals of the broader university network. The Director must demonstrate excellent prioritization and organizational skills, cultural agility, immediacy in communication, and attention to detail.
This position is based at NU's Seattle campus but given the travel requirements and ability to work remotely, the successful candidate could be based anywhere on the West Coast.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following skills, dispositions, experience, and qualifications:
7-10 years of professional work experience in business development, relationship management, corporate strategic planning or related field
The ability to develop a strategy for each initiative and/or partnership aligned to the university mission and a strong sense of personal accountability to see initiatives and projects from inception to execution
The ability to develop novel collaborations leading to value for both partners and the university
The ability to maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders within an organization
Organizational tact and diplomacy; possesses superb interpersonal skills required to develop close relationships with external partners and key collaborators across the university
Detail oriented and analytical
Thrives in a multi-tasking environment and can adjust priorities quickly
Self-motivated, self-managed, proactive, risk taking, and a very high drive to succeed
Strong at developing deep personal relationships to key contacts in customer organizations
Ability to serve as an ambassador for the university
Travel Requirement
You will be required to travel to meet strategically important partners.
You may be required to travel to Boston a few days a month for meetings at Northeastern's Boston campus.
Additional travel to Northeastern's regional campuses may be required.
The expected hiring range for this position is $107,300.00 - $171,680.00 based on the position's scope and responsibilities.
