Performs a broad range of tasks in the Building Services and Operations Department. Duties include Receiving and Delivering inbound packages, meeting contractors for maintenance and construction projects, metering outbound Library mail, performing event setups; moving and installing Library equipment and furniture across library building sites; making minor repairs to library equipment, reporting repair items through the University work order system, completing building service job tickets in Microsoft teams.
Responsibilities:
Shipping & Receiving:
Would be thoroughly conversant with messenger duties and procedures of Shipping and Receiving operations and contribute daily to Library Shipping Services in the following manner: receiving, sorting, and distributing of mail and packages. Preparing outbound shipments, completing donation pickups.Â
Sorts outgoing mail and meters for postage.Â
Wraps packages.Â
Answers phone; takes and relays messages.
Accepts deliveries to the loading dock.Â
Completes solo or with partners library donation/gift pick ups using the Library van.
Monitors the dock and rear doors providing access to facilities staff, contractors, library donors and shipping providers.
Loads and off loads pallets of delivered items breaking them down and delivering to designated locations.
Acts as interlibrary messenger: Operating the library-owned van to transport books, mail, packages and furniture between campus Library locations and to and from local vendors.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Building Services:
Assembles and installs Library equipment/furnishings.
Arranges furniture, audiovisual equipment and refreshments for Library meetings, lectures, conferences, dinners, and special events.
Give access to building to outside contractors.
Repairs or modifies locks and installs lock cylinders.Â
Repairs Libraryâ™s locking shelves.Â
Collects information concerning quantities, locations, and conditions of Library equipment/furnishings/supplies for a wide variety of purposes.Â
Drives Library van in connection with some of these tasks.
Helps to move Library equipment/furnishings.
Completes building checklists identifying issues.

Education, Experience, or Certifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Ability to drive a motor vehicle required.
Mechanical ability and familiarity with common hand tools required.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid driver's license required.
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
Use and learn a range of position-related software applications required.
Demonstrated competency with warehouse equipment and tools.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Ability to use computers extensively for 2 hours or more.
Ability to lift and carry moderate/heavy weights 75lbs+.
Driving company vehicle required.
Physical mobility required.
Ability to use pallet jacks, carts, and dollies. Ability to climb ladders and stairs. Ability to bend, crouch, or stoop.
Sensory awareness, ability to monitor door cameras, hear approaching trucks, and react to multiple demands.
Able to work outdoors in seasonal climate conditions.
