Responsibilities:
The Graduate Administration Coordinator provides a high level of support for the Department Chair, Graduate Directors, faculty, and graduate students in the Department of Economics. The Graduate Coordinator ensures that all graduate student services, from admissions, to advising, to facilitating job placements move smoothly. They play a key role in tracking metrics for admissions and they are the first point of contact for all graduate students. The Graduate Administration Coordinator works independently to solve problems as they arise, and provides feedback to the Chair, Directors, and Administrative Officer as appropriate. In coordination with other staff and management, the Graduate Administration Coordinator participates in planning and executing at minimum four large annual events and numerous smaller events throughout the year. The Graduate Administration Coordinator also works closely with the Marketing Assistant to create content for social media.
The Graduate Administration Coordinator will provide support to the expanding professional master's program and doctoral program by working closely with the MS and Ph.D. Program Directors on recruitment and admissions, preparing and posting updates to the annual catalog, monitoring student academic records and progress, maintaining the graduate student database and electronic filing. They will support prospective and current students by serving as their first point of contact, providing information and direction as needed. This position utilizes administrative systems and protocols at the departmental, college, and university levels, including ApplyYourself, Courseleaf, Banner, Canvas, SharePoint and related work flow systems and platforms, and maintains electronic student files and student database.
Qualifications:
Three to five years of experience in a responsible administrative position. Experience in higher education strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills; good mathematical aptitude and basic computer skills; ability to solve basic computer issues; spreadsheet/database experience; good working knowledge of academic setting desirable; ability to work independently, under deadline pressure, and on a variety of tasks.
