USCâs University Communications department is looking for a digital media specialist to join their team.
The Digital Media Specialist will be responsible for producing short videos in varying formats to fit platform needs on a wide variety of subjects.Â Video subjects include, but not exclusive to, science, research, technology, arts, humanities, student engagement, university policies and promotions, among others.Â Videos should be short, engaging, entertaining, and or informative targeting our wide variety of audiences: students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and community.Â Reporting to the Director of Video and Photographic Communications, the Digital Media Specialist needs to be creative, a quick thinker, self-starter, organized, personable, and flexible as things change quickly at the university.Â This position will also work with the central video team on larger video projects when available.Â The Digital Media Specialist will operate a variety of video and audio equipment ranging from video cameras to DSLR and digital cinema cameras as well as mobile phone video cameras; capture video, audio and images; transport equipment to various sites for purpose of video production; use of hardware and software to prepare, edit and store digital content for assigned projects; assist other video productions when needed.Â Must be able to produce videos all on their own from start to finish.Â This is a non-exempt (hourly) position with full benefits.Â
Works in collaboration with other production staff to produce a variety of digital content for broadcasting, compression output, DVD distribution, webcasting, and streaming.
Operates complex video and audio equipment and captures video, audio and still images of programs and events. Transports equipment to various sites for purpose of media production.
Performs postproduction tasks, such as reviewing footage, making limited editorial decisions, tape logging, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, and editing using software packages. Uses hardware and software to store digital content for assigned projects.
Operates video switching, character generation and digital video effects.
Assists in the creation of comprehensive digital content archives for use by media and University stakeholders.

A Bachelorâs degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience.
Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
Proficient with concept development, pitching, camera operation, sound recording, lighting, editing, color correction, and motion graphics.Â Animation is a plus!
Proven ability to design and deliver quality video projects on time in a variety of formats
Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
Ability to move about campus with equipment.
Strong communication skills a must
Knowledge and adherence to copyright law, privacy laws, and use of releases
