Classroom and small group instruction for proper laboratory procedures with the Institute for Construction Education (ICET). Monitor written and practical certification examinations. This position is also responsible for developing laboratory curriculum changes. This is a pooled position and our anticipated start date is Fall 2022 and/or Spring 2023. One or more applicants may be hired as needed on a semester-by-semester basis.

Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Work Experience:
Five years experience working in the road construction industry related to quality control of highway construction materials. Two years experience in a classroom laboratory setting as a trainer/instructor/monitor.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Current certifications appropriate to program assignment, such as Michigan Certified Aggregate Technician, Michigan Certified Bituminous Laboratory Technician, Level 1 and/or Michigan Certified Density Technician.

Available to travel and work at varied days and times. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Successfully interact with visitors, faculty, staff and students. Classroom and small group instruction for proper laboratory procedures. Monitor written and practical certification examinations. Stay current with industry regulations and requirements as they pertain to curriculum development. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of the Michigan Department of Transportation laboratory and testing procedures, the American Society for Testing and Materials Standards, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Standards as they apply to the construction industry. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
