The University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine, invites applications for the position of Veterinary Assistant. The primary purpose of this position is to provide quality care for cattle patients by performing a variety of functions such as general care, record keeping, and operating equipment. Assists clinicians with tabling bulls and discharge (movement of cattle). Ensures USDA, AALAC, and IACUC standards are maintained as instructed. Performs sanitation in all areas of the hospital and farm per Standard Operating Procedures. Transports animals, moving animals to designated areas as needed. Performs laundry for Large Animal hospital, folding and putting away items.
Depending on qualifications of the successful candidate, position will begin as a Veterinary Assistant I or II, or Senior Veterinary Assistant I or II. More responsibilities will be expected of those hired in at a more advanced level.
