The IU Recreational Sports Tennis Center is an auxiliary unit housed within Campus Recreational Sports with nearly 1,000 members and 380 participants in junior and adult programming. This 48,000 sq ft facility is the only indoor tennis facility within a 50-mile radius and features 8 indoor hard-surface tennis courts with balcony seating, PlaySight courts, lobby lounge, fitness area, and men's and women's locker rooms. Known for top-notch caliber tennis professionals and high-quality programming currently led by a USPTA certified Master Head Tennis Professional, the Tennis Center features an active junior and adult program including instructional clinics, Cardio Tennis, tournaments, travel teams and informal play. Job Summary
The primary role of this position is to provide instruction to junior tennis players through individual lessons and group clinics. The Teaching Professional implements the instructional plans designed by the Head Tennis professional with the involvement of the Assistant Professionals and Teaching Professionals.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Provides on court instruction, lesson planning, communication with players and their parents, court set-up, and evaluation of player performance.
Provides a quality instructional experience to ensure retention of current juniors and recruitment of new players.
Meets instructional goals established for number of lessons and clinics as well as revenue levels.
Assists Head Tennis Professional and Assistant Tennis Professional(s) in the maintaining of highly professional instructional programs for the membership and general public.
General Responsibilities
Provides on court tennis instruction; evaluates player performance.
Designs, implements, and evaluates instructional plans.
Assists with hiring, instructing, evaluating, and mentoring of the temporary tennis lessons staff.
Plans, markets, organizes, and directs tennis tournaments, tennis programs, and traveling teams.
Participates in administrative tasks such as reporting, evaluations, budgeting, and programming.

Working Conditions / Demands
This position requires both sedentary work and long durations of movement about the workspace. It requires the ability to move and transport objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential tasks with or without an accommodation.
