The Director of Global Leaders will be a full-time staff person who will report to the Vice President for Student Affairs and be responsible for the overall quality and execution of the program. The director works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and business representatives to identify and deliver a variety of services and programming. The director works directly with students on a daily basis to ensure their success, promoting leadership development and engagement in high-impact activities such as study abroad and undergraduate research.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the recruitment of potential participants (at the direction of the Office of Admissions).
Organize and execute the participant selection process.
Communicate with prospective and current members.
Evaluate and decide on proposed member expenditures.
Plan and execute all events (speakers, trips, etc.).
Assist with donor engagement (at the direction of the Office of University Development).
Coordinate participant enrollment, advising, housing, etc. (in cooperation with academic departments and university offices).
Schedule, plan, and execute meetings of the advisory board.
The program director will annually prepare a budget that includes all aspects of the program, including recruitment, marketing, salaries and benefits, events, donor engagement and communication, etc. This budget will be presented to the advisory board and the University president for approval.
Annually evaluate the quality of the program by having the program director create, distribute, and collect data through an assessment instrument. The instrument will be given to all student participants and advisory board members. The results of this annual assessment will be presented to the advisory board, President's Cabinet either in person or in a written report.
The program director will be responsible for submitting to the University president, the vice president for Student Affairs, and the advisory board an annual program improvement plan based on the feedback received from the annual assessment.
The program director along with staff in Admissions and University Relations and Marketing will collaborate on the branding and promotion of the program.
Create and maintain a program handbook.
Education, Experience, and Licenses
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required, Master's degree is preferred.
Three or more years of experience with students in higher education is preferred. Other relevant experience in program development, leadership, assessment, event planning, marketing and recruitment, budgeting, donor engagement, or business relations is ideal. The individual must be able to interact professionally with internal and external constituents, have a strong student focus with commitment to work with students on a daily basis, possess excellent communication and reasoning skills, and demonstrate leadership competencies.
Current driver license for transportation purposes.
