The Communications Coordinator reports to and directly supports the Director of Marketing and Communications. The Communications Coordinator will assist with writing, photography, social media, website updates, magazine production, advertising and the planning, execution and analysis of various marketing and communications programs as well as a variety of other communications responsibilities as designated by the Director of Marketing & Communications.
The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:
Journalistic writing to assist with weekly email blasts, news on school website, news releases, magazine stories and other marketing items
Social Media content
Social Media and Web Analytics
Advertising planning and placement of ads
Vendor relations for procurement of goods
Photography and photo editing
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
Basic marketing/planning skills
Ability and eagerness to learn and take on other responsibilities as needed
Education and Experience
Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field is preferred. Or, equivalent work experience.
Skills and Knowledge
Strong project management skills
Strong journalistic writing skills
Knowledge of social media content development/postings/management required
Photography – basic composition skills and knowledge of digital camera
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google suite, email marketing programs, Internet, etc.
Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media tools required
Basic Photoshop skills a plus
Ability to manage multiple tasks, to be flexible and to prioritize to meet deadlines
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
Ability to serve in a 12-month role, including some early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Ability to work Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 4:00pm. Reliable transportation.
This job is performed mostly inside and sometimes outside; the noise level can be quiet to loud. Position requires sitting at a desk, walking, standing, crouching, stooping, talking, seeing, and hearing as needed to perform essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
