TRIO Summer Teachers (non-college credit)

Location: Metropolitan State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and recipient of the 2019 Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire TRIO Summer Teachers to teach 6 weeks virtual non-college credit courses in English, Math, Science, Language (Spanish, Chinese, French, etc) and/or Elective(s) during the summer 2021 (June – July). This is a part-time/temporary/intermittent position within the TRIO Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science department in the Academic and Student Affairs division. Physical Requirements of the Job: This requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Even though the weights being lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls. Working conditions will primarily be located at Metropolitan State University – Saint Paul Campus in a classroom setting. Physical effort includes moving and transporting subject materials from the TRIO office to classroom space. Other Requirements: Salary: This is a Minnesota State University Association of Administrative and Service Faculty (MSUAASF) Range A position with a salary range of $34,160 (minimum) to $53,014 (maximum). Salary is commensurate with education and experience, and is determined by the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (Minnesota State) and the MSUAASF organization.

The School/Academic Department: The TRIO Upward Bound & Upward Bound Math-Science programs are federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education. They are equal opportunity educational programs designed to generate the motivation of students to graduate from high school, enter college, and successfully complete a postsecondary degree. Metropolitan State University TRIO Upward Bound programs serve a total of 120 low/limited income and first-generation college-bound youth in grades 9th – 12th primarily from Washington Technology Magnet and Hmong College Prep Academy.
