Testing Site Courier

The Safety, Emergency, and Enterprise Risk Management Office (SEERM) is seeking Testing Site Couriers. Testing Site Couriers are responsible for the routine collection of COVID-19 surveillance samples from multiple testing sites on the Fairfax Campus on a set schedule. Couriers will be required to assist in packaging samples for shipment, confirming sample manifest, and transporting sealed sample carriers from test sites to the University's testing laboratory in Manassas. Couriers will be provided with a state vehicle for courier operations. This is a part-time wage position expected to work between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. but hours may vary based on testing site operations. Couriers cannot exceed 29 hours of work per week.
Qualified applicants will possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record (no DWI, reckless driving, multiple moving violations);
Previous experience at an institute of higher education;
Previous driver/delivery experience.
Please Note: The ability to drive is an essential function of this position, George Mason University will check the motor vehicle records of all job applicants selected for consideration of this position. Upon extension of a job offer, the applicant’s job offer is contingent on eligibility under the company policy for operating a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle record check will include a review of all states listed on the individual’s employment application and resume.
If the applicant does not have a valid driver’s license or has a driving record that falls at or below the criteria George Mason University considers an acceptable status, the applicant will not be considered further for this position. If the applicant’s driving record meets the probationary status criteria, he or she will be placed into that status upon hire with further periodic review.
