Compliance Officer - Transportation and Parking 14981
The Transportation and Parking department at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Compliance Officer (Program Assistant I) position. This position will address emerging trends in nicotine consumption. Through the Tobacco and Smoke-Free Campus Initiative, the Compliance Officer will implement and oversee the efficacy of policy and the program.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Enforce compliance regulations in affected areas through dissemination of information and issuing citations. Citations are issued utilizing hand-held computers. Research, evaluate, and respond to supervisors regarding implementation of the initiative, concerns, questions, and unique situations from staff, faculty, students, and the public regarding policies and procedures of the Tobacco - Smoke Free campus Compliance unit.
Provide excellent customer service and display empathy with our customers, even under the most trying of emotional conditions. Provide information to visitors, staff, faculty, and students concerning the tobacco and smoke free policy and cessation resources.
Be able to work unsupervised and make decisions on demand. Provide assistance to those who request referral to cessation programs for assistance. Coordinate with the Student Ambassador program to identify trends. Perform duties associated compliance of the policy in all hot spots and targeted areas throughout the main campus. These duties involve both educational and awareness aspects of adhering to the policy and the issuance of citations to follow the step procedures and refer to student and faculty conduct.
Issue, collect, process, reconcile, and record all citations. Maintain the compliance website and process all violation complaints.
Serve as the frontline contact and first line of response to review customer related issues for policy violation (both physically and via the telephone/email), and accurately respond to a wide range of questions pertaining to the policy.
Perform compliance monitoring and control at event activities as assigned at various overtime details, including but not limited to various WVU events.
Perform other duties as assigned during slow periods.
Work Hours: 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.; Monday-Friday
Pay Grade: 12, WVU provides competitive wages for its employees, and takes experience and related education into consideration when determining appropriate salary.
At least one (1) year of consumer and/or security customer service experience
Must have a valid driver's license
Must obtain provided training from the University Police Department upon hire
Physical demands include:
Equipment used such as hand-held ticket writer daily.
In operations of parking equipment, precision of movements, awareness of environment, and close visual attention is needed to impose safety for the employee and personnel around him/her daily.
Moderate physical effort involving long periods of standing, bending, lifting, pushing, handling, seeing, hearing, kneeling, climbing, listening, stooping, grasping, sitting, speaking, etc. daily.
Ability to move/lift in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.
