The Assistant Director of Alumnae Engagement will seek to strengthen commitment to and affection for Wellesley by directly managing programs and initiatives that offer tangible benefits to alumnae and current students and support institutional priorities.
The Assistant Director of Alumnae Engagement is a vital part of the project-based Alumnae Engagement team, responsible for the management of alumnae engagement including planning, implementation, maintenance and assessment of programs and projects that strategically engage alumnae. They will work directly with alumnae classes, clubs, and shared identity groups and manage programs, activities, and events on and off campus in a cross-functional and collaborative structure.
This member of the Alumnae Engagement team will have strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities. They will also possess excellent interpersonal skills and have customer service experience, preferably in a not-for-profit environment. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication and attention to detail. The most successful candidate will be effective in managing and tracking a variety of concurrent projects, possess a solid sense of humor, and demonstrate flexibility.
Primary Position Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of approximately 20 classes and 25 regional clubs, including serving as the main point of contact at the College for volunteers (approx. 225). Support class and club communications, event planning, budget, tax and other transactional financial needs, volunteer recruitment, membership and training for this portfolio.
Plan, implement, maintain and assess a portfolio of alumnae engagement programs, including but not limited to multi-faceted Admission and Award programs.
Train volunteer leaders, including developing and presenting workshops at Wellesley BLUEprint, our fall training summit.
Serve as the point person for key Reunion program elements, such as allergy and accessibility services, transportation schedules, and housing assignments for up to 3500 guests annually.
Maintain accurate records for alumnae groups to advance the alumnae engagement metric.
Serve as an integral and engaged team member for key alumnae events, such as Reunion, Wellesley BLUEprint, and other events as necessary.
Build and steward relationships with campus partners and a wide range of alumnae, with a focus on inclusive excellence. Maintain relationships with volunteers through regular and consistent contact.
Oversee student workers and projects.
At least two years of professional work experience
Prior experience in alumnae/i relations and/or volunteer management

Soft skills including conflict management, interpersonal communication, and institutional knowledge
Dexterity across a range of software including G Suite, web content management systems, Cvent, Salesforce, and Workday
Analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to both identify and solve problems from both an operational and customer service perspective

Tact, diplomacy, enthusiasm and patience
Some evening and weekend work, may occasionally require travel
Occasionally requires set-up of events in both indoor and outdoor locations, including moving supplies and equipment; lift < 30 lbs
While alumna status is not required, applicants who, in addition to the experience and skills required, have attended Wellesley and are personally familiar with Wellesley culture, will be at a distinct advantage in this alumnae engagement position.
