Performs the general inspection and repair duties to keep physical plant in safe operating condition. Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a large variety of equipment and systems under the guidance of the Plant Operations Director. This work requires skills in a variety of trades. Maintains proper documentation of all tests, inspections and repairs. Works closely with agents from regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with codes and standards. Identifies opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and systems/services on an on-going basis
Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs on all mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, utility, refrigeration systems and ensures critical systems are continuously at peak operation conditions, such as air handling, medical air, medical vacuum systems, pneumatic tube systems, hospital beds, wheelchairs, patient transportation and moving equipment, etc.
Reads and interprets blueprints, technical manuals and schematics and maintains proper manufacturers' specifications in performing preventive maintenance on a regular schedule
Maintains proper logs and records to ensure compliance
Performs regular inspection of the work areas and cleanup as needed
Requisitions parts and materials for repairs and restocks the items when needed
Reviews blueprints and manufacturers' manuals on equipment and national, state and local codes to ensure compliance
Coordinates installation, maintenance and repairs of equipment with other plant operations personnel and vendors as required
May act as a team lead when repairs or procedures involve more than one employee; may act as a coach to assist Building Maintenance Techs with minor repairs
Properly handling and processing hazardous chemicals and waste as needed
Meets the requirements of the on -call rotation schedule for building and ground coverage during after hours, holidays and weekends
