Job Knowledge, Training and Experience: Must be a certified mechanic and three (3) years' experience as a mechanic. Must be familiar with hydraulics, brake systems, lights, preventative maintenance and vehicle lubrication. Must learn, be able to read and interpret technical manuals and complete vendor schools. Must learn and comply with Cooperative's Safety Rules and Procedures. Must be or become certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Abilities and Skills: Frequently moved and/or carries materials and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds. Occasionally moved and/or carries items that weigh up to 100 pounds. Must be able to troubleshoot, make repairs and replace motor, transmissions, electric systems, hydraulic systems, etc. Familiar with new diagnostic tools. Must be familiar with TxDOT rules and regulations. Must be able to keep up with records, timesheets and any other required reports. Must maintain a reasonable amount of inventory in stock while submitting required inventory forms. Must possess good interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain a harmonious relationship with all Cooperative personnel and the members. Must possess oral and written communications in the English language. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be insurable with the Cooperative's insurance carrier. Must have or obtain a Class "A" Interstate CDL within six months from hire.
Working Conditions: Irregular hours, which may include nights, holidays and weekends. Exempt position. Overtime may be required. Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions such as extreme heat or cold, high winds or stormy conditions. Travel will be required. To ensure all employees are drug and alcohol free, pre-employment, post accident, reasonable cause and random drug and alcohol tests are conducted in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.
