The moving/event setup crew member performs a variety of tasks related to moving and event services operations including the setup and teardown and logistical assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(1) Responsible for the facility required setup up and break down before and after events. (2) Maintain, assemble, and store equipment and furniture with care. (3) Transports a variety of furniture, computers, mailroom deliveries and boxes using hands or hand carts with the campus community. (4) Maintain departmental recycling bins, removes shredded paper, bags and outside trash cans as needed. (5) Keeps track of department issued boxes, furniture, tables, chairs, and podiums used for events. (6) May work independently or as part of a team to complete a variety of assignments or supervisor-assigned tasks. (7) May meet with event coordinators to discuss set up needs and preparation and regularly interacts with all constituents in the campus community. (8) Anticipate and ensure patron safety in the building in regards to event setup and tear down. (9) Participates generally in the laboring work of the campus as assigned. (10) Performs other duties as assigned.
A High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must be able to read work orders and set up/layout drawings with good spatial recognition. • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. • Ability to understand basic communication skills in English and follow specific oral and written instructions and procedures. • Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cohesively with team partners. • Ability to cope effectively with changing priorities and meet deadlines. • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff. • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evening hours as needed. • Reliable and dependable.
Job requires repetitive lifting of light weight objects with frequent bending and stooping, or repetitively lift average weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds).
Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
