Receives and transports patients and visitors in a safe and timely manner to their designated destination. Will document request for services in order to provide an accurate and timely tracking system. Will maintain wheelchairs, stretchers, and all other used equipment in clean and sanitary condition as well as proper working order. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Uses patient transfer devices and equipment to safely transport patients throughout the facility in a timely manner. Transports equipment, supplies, and/or laboratory specimens to assigned area. Assists nursing and ancillary personnel with lift/move of patients to ensure safe transfer process. Cleans and maintains equipment; removes and reports equipment in need of repair. Verifies patient identity and maintains patient confidentiality and privacy according to policies and procedures. Participate in training new staff to policies and procedures, processes, equipment, and information system applications. Complies with federal, state and regulatory agency standards, regulations, requirements and guidelines. Effectively coordinates activities to optimize resources and ensure delivery of efficient, cost-effective service and patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Required: One (1) to two (2) years of customer service experience in retail, healthcare, or other closely related field. Preferred: Patient transportation
