The School of Education was established in 2002, building on an 85-year tradition at UC Davis of working to strengthen public education. The School offers preparation for the California teaching credential, master's and doctoral-level programs for both educational researchers and practitioners, and professional development for educators throughout Northern California. It is home to the Resourcing Excellence in Education (REEd) Center, which is a university-based intermediary with deep ties to the TK-12 education community across the state. REEd works to move research findings into practice and building the capacity of education systems to improve teaching and learning with the goal of reducing education inequities. The GEAR UP Rural Valley Partnership is located in Orland, CA (2 hours north of Davis) and works in partnership with administrators, educators and students in all levels of education (K-16) in Colusa, Glen and Tehama counties.

Job Summary: Under general supervision of the GEAR UP Rural Valley Partnership (GEAR UP) Project Director, maintain effective collaboration and communication with all grant partners, grant participants, and potential partners. Analyze, plan, and support grant services and projects in collaboration with grant Directors, partners, GEAR UP Site Advisors, and School Districts. Work with grant directors to develop and analyze the effectiveness of academic outreach programs designed to increase the number of college eligible and college bound students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Work with all GEAR UP staff to analyze evaluation and program data, and assess needs of participants and partners. Represent UC Davis at workshops, meetings and conferences; develop written material for program publications; help to coordinate summer programs.
Coordinate grant workshops, conferences, events, campus visits, parent conferences and other grant outreach activities. The Gear Up Policy Analyst position is located in Orland California.
Physical Demands: Work on computer for extended periods of time (6-8 hours per day), Occasional transporting of meeting, event materials and supplies from offices to meeting sites, school sites, partner locations, and event locations. Occasionally handling carts or driving university or personal vehicles to transport materials. Occasionally handling small furniture and/or equipment.
Lift/maneuver office supplies weighing up to 25 lbs

Minimum Qualifications: Experience coordinating and evaluating special events, programs and workshops.
Financial management and accounting experience preparing accurate budget projections, expenditure analyses ad reconciliation of expenses.
Writing, editing, and proofreading skills to produce correspondence, presentations, reports that reflect high attention to detail and the standards of professionalism of an executive office.
Experience working in an environment that requires interpersonal and communication skills to create and maintain professional collaborative working relationships.
Experience using computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and data base platforms.
Experience multi-tasking, organizing workload, and meeting multiple deadlines, skills to set priorities and adapt to changing work priorities.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing analysis to interpret evaluation data and education policy.
Familiarity with campus-wide offices, administrative contacts, and campus structures and resources.
Bilingual, Spanish Speaking.
Experience with Aggie Travel, Pre-Purchasing System, DaFis, and other UC Davis systems. Advanced Excel and data base software skills and experience using spreadsheets in a variety of ways.
Experience and/or Knowledge of the GEAR UP program.
