Business and Auxiliary Services is seeking a qualified Truck Driver to provide timely delivers and pick-ups of mail, packages, and goods on the Oakland campus, branch campuses and other off-campus areas owned and/or operated by the University of Pittsburgh.
Duties include but are not limited to: - Pickup bio hazardous waste on a weekly basis and/or when needed - Driving on and off campus - Being familiar with the greater Pittsburgh area and surroundings - Ability to prioritize work - Handling and transporting of hazardous material(s) - Extensive walking, sitting, driving up to six hours a day and lifting at least 70 lbs. - Getting in and out of vehicle, climbing stairs and working in inclement weather - Courtesy and professionalism at all times - Special projects as assigned
Days of operation are Monday through Friday. Hours are associated with routes and are bid upon annually. Must be able to work overtime as deemed necessary. The selected candidate is required to pass a mandatory Department of Transportation drug and alcohol screening and to have a satisfactory report from the DMV.
High School Diploma or GED. Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License. Must have a minimum of two years truck driving experience with a straight truck of at least 18 ft. in length. "Class B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brakes and hazmat endorsement ('H").
Department Details : Business and Auxiliary Services consists of Auxiliary Services; University Stores; Auxiliary Operations and Finance; and Auxiliary Business Administration and Maintenance. Our Department strives for the highest standard of quality and service. Our Auxiliary Operations and Finance team oversees the University's support services that keep campus moving. We manage all on-campus modes of transportation, including buses, shuttles, and University-owned vehicles and rentals. We help faculty, staff, students, and visitors with parking and offer sustainable commuting alternatives, from vanpools to bike lockers. We supply and sell a variety of gently used items, from furniture to computers and even vehicles. We run the University's logistical services, helping ensure that mail is delivered across campus, providing in-house moving services, and printing official University materials. Finally, our team assists the entire Department by managing all accounting and financial functions.
