MSK is seeking a Transportation Group Lead who will efficiently and accurately oversee the transport of materials (e.g., specimens, mail, treatments, etc.) across/between MSKCC sites.
Evaluate and prioritizes daily assignments of self and others to meet workload requirements; delegates tasks to other messenger staff to ensure timely and efficient workflow.
Provides feedback about employee performance to transportation manager, based on specific instances of behavior.
Anticipate problems, designs solutions and keeps manager apprised of changes or difficulty completing assignments.
Communicate with staff and responds to their questions regarding processes and modifications in procedures.
Coordinate and participates in the orientation and training of new employees.
Provide appropriate person(s) with updated information related to locations of hospital staff, (i.e., practices, clinics and medical staff).
Cross trains staff to ensure adequate coverage of all functions.
Report process issues immediately to the manager and supervisor using Nextel radios.
Obtains all the required information from the caller (e.g., name of caller, time of the call, extension, item being picked up, area item is being picked up from, name of recipient, stat/hand deliver).
Ensure the delivery of all materials occurs the same day of receipt. Ensures that items designated as a STAT Delivery be delivered within (15) fifteen minutes of receipt.
Enters information regarding pick-ups and delivery in the dispatch log to ensure the proper tracking of all items.
Prepare and reviews sign-in sheets bi-weekly prior to the timekeepers deadline.
Respond to time off requests and ensures proper department coverage at all times. Notifies manager if requests will cause insufficient coverage for the department.
Ensure adequate supply of dispatch log forms to support departmental usage and restocks as necessary.
Obtain information, materials and logs, as instructed by the manager or when discrepancies occur.
Maintains all paper files and log books in a neat and organized manner, as appropriate to type of file (e.g., alphabetizes, categorizes, color coded, etc.).
Maintain schedules, attendance records, and training records for the department.
Ensures availability of equipment required to carry out the departments tasks and responsibilities (e.g., pens, tape, hand trucks, coolers, etc.).
Audit logs on a weekly basis to ensure completeness.
Analyze, organize, and prioritizes calls and data for physicians, technicians, administrators, and manager to ensure availability for use in tracking, trouble shooting and problem solving.
Work Monday - Friday 1:00PM - 9:00PM, Occasional Weekends
