Postal Worker, Mountainlair Post Office - Student Life 10229
The Division of Student Life is seeking applications for a Postal Worker located in the Mountainlair Post Office . This position is responsible for preparing federal and campus mail, as well as processes to ensure efficient and effective services.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Maintain mail flow for the entire institution through campus mail, U.S. mail, registered mail, priority mail, bulk mail, 2nd class mail, certified mail, insured mail, international mail, express mail, and third party express mail and parcel services (e.g. UPS, FedEx).
Use automated tracking systems.
Receive, sort and log all types and classes of mail according to established procedures and federal, state and local regulations.
Check security and transport cash.
Provide on-demand customer service for all WVU Departments, students, faculty and staff.
Assure quality customer service by following procedures, enforcing best business practices, documenting events, making suggestions for improvements, communicating with coworkers, and asking for customer feedback.
Provide coverage within the Mountainlair Reservations Office.
Manage entry of computerized reservations for the use of the Mountainlair.
Interpret and communicate facility usage policies to students, faculty, staff, university recognized student organizations, off-campus agencies and individuals.
Advise groups desiring use of facilities as to square footage space available, special accommodations, furniture, special equipment, catering services, and technical services available to support their function(s).
Work in the Administrative Offices and Information Center in the absence of the receptionist as needed.
Pay Grade: 8
Requires business or secretarial training obtained through a formal training program of up to eighteen (18) months beyond high school; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Working in full service US Federal Post Office window operations using postal scales and federal post office report procedures.
Extensive training is essential to ensure proper assistance to a variety of students, faculty, and staff utilizing this on-campus service.
A minimum of 6 months experience in the following is required;
Experience handling phone calls
General computer usage experience
General office experience
Must be able to stand and bend for more than six hours a day.
Ability to move, carry, and lift up to 70 pounds.
Hand/eye coordination to operate computer equipment and audiovisual equipment.
