The WVU Extension Service (WVUES) is seeking applications for a Maintenance Worker II position at their Jackson's Mill facility, located in Weston WV . This position provides service and support to clientele of Jackson's Mill State 4-H Camp that supports numerous youth camps and the State Fire Training Academy by providing a safe, secure environment for scheduled activities in meetings, seminars, conferences and other events.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Perform commercial cleaning and security of grounds, buildings and equipment.
Systematically check and secure all buildings following stipulated procedures.
Report any questionable, inappropriate or illegal activities, requests unwanted guests to leave, contacts Leadership Team Member on call for assistance as necessary.
Communicates with 911 Center, local volunteer fire department and staff about fire alarm issues as needed. Monitor airstrip usage as needed.
Carry a working radio at all times for communication.
Clean and maintain the interior and exterior appearance of buildings as required. Clean and dust all furniture.
Shovel snow and ice from walkways. Empty and clean trash receptacles. Transport waste to appropriate location.
Clean and disinfect bathrooms and kitchenettes.
Clean and maintain an inventory of audio-visual equipment in meeting rooms and perform minor repairs such as replacing lamps in overheads.
Replenish supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc.
Load and transport material, equipment, furniture, linens or supplies to various locations across campus. Disassemble and store items at the end of each event.
Clean and maintain picnic pavilions and council circle as needed.
Set up rooms, deliver and pick up linens, set up and operations of A/V equipment.
Perform general maintenance duties in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and mechanics as instructed. This included minor furniture repairs; replacing shingles; replace flooring; resetting breakers and fire alarms; changing light bulbs; replacing belts and pumps; repairing equipment; fixing leaks; unstopping toilets, sewer lines and sink drains; paint walls and ceilings; operate various hand and power tools.
Maintain tools and equipment in good condition. This includes doing monthly checks of all fire extinguishers and notifying supervisor when they need serviced.
Attend various training classes and other meetings to learn new techniques and procedures to remain current in all safety requirements and for professional development as needed.
Notifies supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repairs or replacement and of potential safety violations.
Operates a motor vehicle in the performance of duties. Maintains upkeep of such vehicles by replacing wipers, belts, gas, oil, etc. Maintain log of vehicle repairs for each vehicle.
Maintain sports equipment and sign out to groups/individuals.
Provide support with any operation or need to maintain smooth functioning of Jackson's Mill.
Make decisions concerning operation, request, and emergencies in the absence of immediate supervisor, Program Director and other supervisors.
Complete various forms regarding incidents/accidents on grounds and a daily shift report.
Assist in registering guests, answering switchboard and open/close building as needed when Registration Office is closed.

Pay Grade: 11
High School Diploma or GED plus 18 months of education in vocational training in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least one (1) year of experience in the following areas:
commercial cleaning using solutions as well as equipment such as vacuum, shampooer, high speed buffers, mops, etc.
light maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, resetting breakers, repairing equipment, fixing leaks, unclogging toilets and draings
Preferred experience with building security.
Knowledge of building maintenance and minor mechanical knowledge.
Knowledge of audio/visual equipment set up and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of troubleshooting issues with phones, wi-fi, computers, fire alarm panel, etc.
Strong labor skills to operate commercial cleaning equipment, grounds keeping equipment and small hand and power tools.
Problem solving skills necessary to determine the appropriate course of action in various situations encountered on a daily basis.
Conflict resolution skills necessary to professionally interact with clients, co-workers and general public.
Strong organization skills to prioritize work assignments.
Ability to read, speak and write in English and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions, as well as give fluent oral and written instructions.
Ability to work on ladders and scaffolding.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Valid driver's license
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Ability to work during long periods of standing, walking and lifting.
