EVENTS PROJECT COORDINATOR , MIT Energy Initiative--Event Services , to join the Communications and Events Team. Will assume a variety of roles that involve tracking multiple moving pieces, helping team members stay informed and coordinated, and troubleshooting event-related issues under pressure. Responsibilities include planning, managing, and executing events; preparing material for events; supporting team members throughout the process of event planning; soliciting and supporting speakers via telephone, email, and in-person; researching appropriate formats, venues, and other event-related needs; collaborating with the team and other MITEI staff in preparing for high-profile, complex, and large-scale events; sharing supervision of student interns; managing event registration; assisting with event-related outreach to MIT and external community, invitations, and follow-ups; managing invoice processing; and performing other duties as needed. The work involve interaction with government, academic, and industry leaders and their staffs.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least two years' experience; event management experience working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills; meticulous attention to details and deadlines; self-motivation and a desire to learn and improve processes; ability to work as part of many different teams in a service-oriented environment where there can be frequent interruptions; ability work independently and be the driving force when necessary; ability and willingness to transport supplies around campus, occasionally move furniture, and conduct minor cleaning of spaces; knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; basic graphic design knowledge (Adobe Creative Suite preferred); and knowledge of or desire to learn Eventbrite and other digital tools to help with event promotion.
