Assistant Supervisor Campus Service - Extension Service, Jackson's Mill 11193
The WVU Extension Service (WVUES) is seeking applicants for an Assistant Supervisor-Campus Services located at Jackson's Mill in Weston WV. This position will provide security and support to clientele of the WVU Jackson's Mill State 4-H Camp and support numerous youth camps, and the State Fire Training Academy by providing a safe, secure environment for scheduled activities and events.
In order to be successful, the ideal candidate will:
Commercial cleaning and security of grounds, buildings and equipment.
Systematically check all buildings following stipulated procedures.
Report any questionable, inappropriate or illegal activities and request unwanted guests to leave. Call Director or on-call Leadership Team Member for assistance as necessary.
Communicate with 911 Center, local volunteer fire department and staff about fire alarm issues when they arise. Monitor airstrip usage as needed.
Provide leadership for daily operation of the Maintenance Worker II (Utility Workers).
Assist supervisor with work schedules to meet the needs of clientele.
Make decisions about operations, requests and emergencies when supervisor is out.
Provide guidance and mentor utility workers and help develop their policies and guidelines.
Carry a working radio at all times for communication throughout the campus.
Clean and maintain interior appearance of all buildings as needed.
Clean and disinfect bathrooms and kitchenettes; replenish supplies.
Clean and maintain an inventory of audio-visual equipment in meeting rooms and perform minor repairs such as replacing lamps in overheads.
Dust and polish all furniture, including desks, chairs, tables and other items.
Empty and clean trash receptacles and transport waste to appropriate location.
Load and transport material, equipment, furniture, linens and supplies to various locations across campus. Disassemble and store items at the end of each event.
Clean and maintain the exterior appearance of all buildings.
Clean and maintain picnic pavilions and council circle as needed.
Set up rooms, deliver and pick up of linens setting up and operations of a/v equipment.
Utilize Resort Data Processing (RDP) software in order to obtain information for events.
General maintenance duties in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and mechanics.
Notify supervisor of equipment and facilities in need of repair and of safety hazards.
Operate a motor vehicle in performance of all duties. Maintain upkeep of such vehicles by replacing wipers, belts, gas, oil, etc and maintain log of vehicle repairs for each vehicle.
Maintain sports equipment and sign out to groups/individuals.
Monthly inspections on fire extinguishers and notify supervisor of needed service.
Complete various forms regarding incidents and/or accidents on the grounds.
Assist in registering guests, answering switchboard and open/close building as needed.

Work Hours: 37.50 hours per week
Pay Grade: 13
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years experience in commercial cleaning of a large facility and light maintenance.
Preferred experience with security of a facility's grounds and buildings.
Knowledge of building maintenance and minor mechanical knowledge.
Knowledge or ability to quickly learn local, state and federal building safety and fire codes.
Knowledge or ability to learn how to troubleshoot some technology issues such as phones, internet, computers, fire alarm panel, audio/visual equipment, etc.
Strong skills in using small hand and power tools and commercial custodial equipment.
Strong independent working skills to complete tasks without constant supervision.
Valid driver's license
Lift up to 75 lbs.
Long periods while standing and walking.
Work on ladders and scaffolding
Exposure to dust, fumes, cleaning solutions and variations in indoor and outdoor temperatures.
