Wytheville Community College is recruiting for a full-time trade technician in the Maintenance Department. This full-time position will serve as a valuable member of the maintenance department providing a variety of different skilled and non-skilled trades to assist the buildings and grounds supervisor in the support of the collegeâs mission statement. In the absence of the Director of Facilities, this position provides oversight to the wage employees and works with other Trade Tech III to ensure the daily operations are completed. Must be an excellent team player in the department and work cooperatively with all departments throughout the college campus and satellite campuses. A team player is always striving for mission accomplishment and constantly wanting the entire team to be successful. This position must provide excellent customer service skills in all aspects of the job. Employee will assist with construction and maintenance decisions, as needed. Employee actively serves on college committees to which employee is appointed. Some duties may include but not be limited to the following: â¢Independently perform basic electrical, plumbing, door and door hardware, and other building maintenance; â¢Work to include all aspects of mechanical maintenance, repair, and replacement and to include location, testing, diagnosing, installation, and repairing of both high and low voltage systems; â¢Perform work in timely manner following work order scheduling with priority given to safety, security, and maintaining expected comfort levels for students, faculty, staff, and visitors; â¢Maintain and repair in a timely manner all water closets, toilets, urinals, lavatories, and other plumbing; â¢Perform and/or oversee the care and maintenance of campus grounds including mowing, trimming, pruning, snow removal, application of ice melt chemicals, application of turf and plant chemicals, application of pest control agents, and leaf collection; â¢Help with repair and maintenance of grounds and snow removal equipment; â¢Monitor building automation systems and make adjustments, as needed; â¢Make direct equipment adjustments in an effort to maintain an acceptable level of comfort; â¢Work with HVAC contract maintenance service to help insure compliance with contract; â¢Perform skilled carpentry and construction to include building renovation, wall repairs, ceiling repairs, floor repairs, and other structural and non-structural building component repairs and may include construction and/or repair of shelving and furniture; â¢Assist with set-up for events, meetings, classes, seminars, workshops, and other events; â¢Move furniture and new furniture setup and assembly; â¢Collect and transport surplus property to surplus facility; and â¢Other duties as assigned.
