This position will join a group of scientists using in vitro and in vivo models to study aging and neurodegenerative diseases and to identify new pathways for therapeutics. The Research Assistant will work with other researchers to design and execute experiments involving stem cell culture, molecular biology techniques such as immunohistochemistry, qPCR, and Western blotting, and/or animal handling. The Research Assistant will collect, organize and analyze experimental data and will be expected to perform assigned tasks with increasing independence over time. This role additionally requires general laboratory support tasks such as ensuring quality control of reagents, instructing other researchers in Standard Operating Procedure, maintaining equipment, and ordering laboratory supplies. Research assistants are expected to attend and actively participate in laboratory and research team meetings.
This is a two year grant funded term position with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and the availability of continued funding.

College background in Biology, Chemistry, or other science-related field and two years directly related experience that includes tissue culture or mouse work in a research setting.
BA/BS in biological sciences are strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment are essential. Must be familiar with the operation of standard lab equipment and with lab safety and biosafety procedures. Ability to work independently, proficiency with web-based applications, databases and Microsoft Excel, excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role. Research Assistant is required to work with and handle laboratory animals (mice) and a variety of hazardous materials.
