Provide clerical and clinical support to the faculty, residents and staff in the Graduate Program in Orthodontics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage the reception and patient records area of the department. 2. Answer phone calls being responsive to queries, questions, and complaints and directing unresolved matters to the appropriate person(s). 3. Maintain Central Appointment System. 4. Accurate entry of patient insurance for both private and state insurances. Verification of active coverage for state insurance at each appointment. Verify preauthorization is valid on date of service. 5. Word process routine and confidential documents, correspondence, reports, and schedules. 6. Copy lecture materials and other documents 7. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires High School diploma or GED.
Meets one of the following:
2 years minimum dental office experience including receptionist duties
2 years experience in dental insurance processing
2 years relevant experience as determined by Director/Coordinator of Clinical Operations
Must possess excellent oral/written communication skills, courteous demeanor, attention to detail, flexibility, ability to work and communicate with people from a diverse population and the ability to work independently with little supervision and constant interruptions in an environment that can be stressful at times.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand (for potentially prolonged periods of time); walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; ability to access/retrieve and transport patient records throughout the clinic is required. Oral and written communications with patients and students requires adequate speech, vision, and hearing. Proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in other languages may be required. Constant use of a telephone and computer terminal. Also requires adequate hand writing and manual dexterity skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bi-lingual (Spanish) skills.
