Eagle Express Lines, Inc. is looking for a motivated and responsible Safety Director to manage the company Safety programs and ensures compliance with all state, federal, or local laws or company policies or regulations
Develop and implement comprehensive company safety program to include not only regular driver safety meetings, but also daily program to promote safety both on and off the road and documentation of same.
Oversee training of all drivers in safe vehicle operations skills using the ELD System(s). Monitor and improve driver and fleet performance through the use of ELD data and metrics
Develop and maintain efficient safety performance standards, procedures and policies. Recommend and evaluate procedures, policies and standards. Reviews periodic safety standards and policies for compliance with federal, state and local laws.
Implement and manage training, annual reviews, log reviews, and post-accident reviews.
Maintain and ensure compliance of all standardized processes for driver background checks, pre-employment medical screening & DOT Physicals
Manage and ensure Drug and Alcohol testing program is in full compliance.
Manage Company's response plans to incidents and crashes. Completes written regulatory reports and subsequent recordkeeping. Conduct accident investigations when necessary. Maintain accident records.
Monitor, counsel, discipline, and document driver violations of any state, federal, or local laws or company policies or regulations including Driver Log Reviews (DOT Hours of Service) with drivers to ensure compliance and fully document all counseling and training received.
Make recommendations, determinations while communicating to personnel and management during road conditions and weather changes that may impact the safe operation of trucks and drivers.
Development of short-and-long-range planning activities covering all aspects of safety and compliance.
Has management responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing subordinates, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.
Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university; and 3 plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years supervisory experience required.
Demonstrated knowledge of the following: principles, methods and practices pertaining to the supervision of safety and compliance programs, including implementation of fleet safety goals, objectives, policies and procedures; regulatory compliance with applicable federal, state and local guidelines (i.e., OSHA, DOT, FMCSA)
Significant work experience in the following: accurate record keeping; research and reporting procedures; budgeting; use of (EOBR’s) Electronic On-Board Recorder systems; managing multiple remote locations; performing internal audits of vehicle maintenance and safety records.
Ability to identify and analyze problems, develop cost-efficient and timely solutions
Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and maintenance management software; experience with Dossier preferred
Demonstrated experience in time management, sound judgment and meeting deadlines.
Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
