The Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development serves as the chief development officer for Athletics. Oversees the comprehensive development operation for Athletics including placing emphasis on growing the leadership giving program through new and upgraded seat priority donations. As a member of the Foundation’s major gifts team, the SAADD collaboratively designs strategies with the senior fundraisers for the overall execution of a comprehensive major gifts initiative by the Foundation for the benefit of the Athletics Department. Strong collaboration and partnership with the Deputy Director of Athletics, with whom significant everyday interactions and strategic conversations will take place.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major and principal gift prospects and corporate sponsors for annual, capital and endowment programs.
Prepares and/or directs the preparation of solicitation materials as needed for individual and corporate prospects.
Provides strategic direction to the Athletic Director, including briefings, fundraising updates, and scheduling cultivations and solicitations of donors and prospects.
Staff the Foundation President, and Athletic Director as needed.
Manages the Director of the Husky Athletic Fund, the Senior Director of Major Gifts and the Associate Director for Athletic Development Operations.
Works closely with the UCONN Foundation’s senior development team to prepare strategies for donor engagement in various activities i.e. suites, away game travel, post season and alumni, university and special events.
Develops a comprehensive donor stewardship program in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Division and ensures its implementation.
Approves and oversees selected special event fundraising for athletics or individual sports, while working in collaboration with Alumni Relations
Plans and implements strategies and programs for achieving established fundraising objectives and goals in accordance with University and Athletics priorities and policies.
Coordinates with members of the central development staff to ensure that the fundraising priorities of Athletics are integrated with central programming and to obtain specialized expertise or access as needed for major and principal gift activity.
Develops and initiates planned steps of a moves process to build relationships with donors and the solicitation of gifts. Updates and maintains timely contact reports, and furnishes timely reports on progress toward assigned goals and solicitation results.
Other development related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred.
Ten years’ experience with demonstrated increasing responsibilities in development, preferably in Division I Athletics
Demonstrated ability to personally solicit major gifts in the amount of $100,000 and above.
In addition to major gifts, demonstrated experience with or the ability to master transactional fundraising (ticketing & priority points system), as well as a broad understanding of CRM practices and database management (Paciolan).
Superb interpersonal skills and ability to build productive, beneficial relationships with a broad range of constituencies.
Demonstrated strategic leadership and management capabilities in a comprehensive development environment; high level of motivation and assertiveness.
Proven proficiency in use of computers and information management tools.
Knowledge and understanding of Division I Athletics and NCAA rules and regulations.
Ability to work to the demands of the position which may exceed a 40 hour work week.
Must be willing to travel extensively and reliable personal transportation is required for this position.
Must possess a valid driver’s license issued from state in which employee resides. Employee must maintain at their expense, automobile liability insurance coverage in the minimum amount of $500,000 or a combination of umbrella and automobile liability insurance coverage of $500,000. A certificate of automobile insurance evidencing the limit, must be provided to the Foundation at hire and annually thereafter
