Assists professional staff in planning experiments, research projects, demonstration projects and data collection activities. Conducts or oversees experiments or demonstration sites in a specialized area of agricultural and natural resources research. Assists with the daily operation of a 5 acre vegetable production incubator farm. Assists with overall management of agriculture and natural resources operations at the Sandhill REC.
Oversees or conducts agriculture and natural resource experiments. Collects and records data from experiments, research or tests. Maintains appropriate records. Sets up, maintains and repairs laboratory and field equipment. Assists in plot layouts for experiments, management of irrigation systems, fertilizer, and pesticide applications. 35% E
Assists in daily management and training for the operation of a 5 acre vegetable incubator farm demonstration project. Operation of irrigation systems, management of organic certification and GAP requirements. Assists in instruction on greenhouse use and maintenance, farm equipment use, training and maintenance. Ensures equipment is maintained and used properly. 35% E
Assists in the overall management of land resources at Sandhill REC including, agricultural demonstration sites, forest and natural resources, ponds, and conservation/garden, education stations. 15% E
Guide and train participants in the incubator farm project. Organize and present data. Supervise field work of laborers, students, technicians engaged in agriculture research or demonstrations. 10% E
Ensure processes are compliant with safety requirements and maintain safety inspection data. 5% E
A bachelor's degree in animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Work experience that is directly related to the area of employment may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.
Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work

2 years in agriculture related field. Knowledge of fruit and vegetable production, farm equipment and irrigation operation and maintenance. Ability to operate farm machinery and lift 50 lbs.
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 05 ($ 32,838.00 - $ 60,760.00)
